The auto mechanics classes at LCHS had a car wash Friday to raise funds for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Along with the car wash, a 50-50 drawing and a bake sale were also part of the fundraising efforts. A car show in the school parking lot attracted local residents and collectors.

LCHS staff member Julie Trone displayed her 1999 Cobra. She races the car at tracks around the state, including Chicago and Havana. She belongs to the Mustang Club of America and the Central Illinois Mustangers. Through her membership in the organization, she was able to view the 2010 Mustang in a special presentation prior to its release to the public.

Students from auto mechanics class washed cars on Friday to raise funds for St. Jude Children's Hospital. A steady line of cars and trucks passed in front of the vocational building from early morning until almost 4:30 p.m. to receive a thorough sudsing and hand-buffing.

By day, Julia Trone is Lincoln Community High School's disciplinarian, working in the assistant principal's office. In her free time, Trone races her 1999 Cobra. The color is called Electric Green, and this car is one of only 89 made with that particular color.

Bob Hanna, Taylorville, displayed his 1939 Ford pickup truck at the after-hours car show on Friday.

Dusting off his 1967 Plymouth is Lincoln resident Tom Rock. The car has only 52,000 original miles.

The auto mechanics class washed over 100 cars on Friday, benefiting from sunny weather and warmer temperatures.
