[August 01, 2011]
It's that special time of the year, the
peak of summer when the best that agriculture has to offer melds
with community. Competitions, special events, entertainment, food
and good times bring friends and neighbors together to simply
celebrate the good life in Logan County.

What does that mean at LDN? Well, after months of planning and a
year of recovery, the staff is ready for extra-long hours. Once
again we pledge to bring our readers as much of the fair as we
possibly can. Last year LDN staff broke every coverage record for
the fair you could imagine. All the results, stories and over 300
color pictures were posted during that one week last August.
That makes for a tough job to try to do more, but we are ready
and in place to do just that.
This year, thanks to readership and advertisers, LDN will once
again expand Logan County Fair coverage.
In all, eight reporters with cameras will be on the ground taking
pictures, writing stories and getting results of all the fair
activities during the busy week.
You may have noticed that all last week we were gearing up with
pre-fair stories. Just in case you missed one of those marvelous
stories, they will again appear in our fair coverage section
starting this week
The fair, to LDN, means long hours with no concern of punching
out and going home until the day's work is posted -- and we won't
worry if it is late at night or the weekend either.
The staff at LDN takes the job of true local coverage as a
calling. As such, we will do everything we can to not let our
readers down.

A collector's DVD with all the fair coverage and pictures that
went into LDN was very popular last year. Although we publish
hundreds of pictures, we actually take hundreds and hundreds more
that don't make our publication.
Fair memories in DVD form will be made available again, plus a
new, separate DVD for collection will also be made available. One
DVD will contain all the fair's results, articles and photos in LDN.
The second DVD will contain all the photos taken during the fair.
The DVDs will be $10 each, with a portion of the profit going to
Logan County's 4-H to help fund programs. DVDs can be ordered at the
fair office or the Logan County Extension office, both located on
the fairgrounds.
So get ready, Logan County. Mike and Jan and Karen and Nila and
Marla and Jessie and Nancy and Deb will be at your fair. We all hope
to see you there.
And smile: Even if you don't make the online version, you very
well could be in the DVD.
Enjoy the fair.
