[June 29, 2011]  Summer reading -- The Lincoln Public Library Summer Reading Program continues through July 23, which is the last day to turn in your reading log. The Teen Summer Reading Program ends on July 16. Information on these programs is available in the Youth Services Department.

Summer programs

The Thursday craft class projects (ages 8-12) for July are:

  • July 7 -- Pop-up castle

  • July 14 -- Book tote with illumination

  • July 21 -- Egg-painted shield

The events on Thursdays in July (for all ages) are:

  • July 7 -- Ronald McDonald

  • July 14 -- Science with Nitro Joe

  • July 21 -- Magic with Richard Landry

Preregistration is required for accurate planning. Please call the Youth Services Department at 732-5732 to sign up for any of these programs.

The Lincoln Public Library is located at 725 Pekin St., with adult nonfiction and reference materials in the historic Carnegie Building. The Annex directly behind houses adult fiction and the Youth Services Department.

Hours are Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, 9 a.m.-5 p.m.; Tuesdays and Thursdays, 9 a.m.-7 p.m.; and Saturdays, 9 a.m.-1 p.m.

Shirt pickup

Did you earn a goal shirt for the Summer Reading Program? You may pick those up starting at 10 a.m. on July 29.

Miss Lou's blog

Louella Moreland, youth services librarian, has a blog that can be accessed by linking through the library website. She lists the new children's and young adult books and introduces library programs. Tell her your ideas and suggestions. You can also view videos and pictures of library programs.

Library on the Go

The library website has a link to a feature called Library on the Go. This is an online database of items to download to your computer, iPhone or MP3 player. Log in with your Lincoln Public Library District card number and search for books, music or movies to download and enjoy.
