[August 19, 2011]  VEVAY, Ind. (AP) -- It's still midsummer but not too early to think about Halloween.

InsuranceThe convention and visitor bureaus in southeastern Indiana's Jefferson, Ohio and Switzerland Counties are holding a scarecrow contest along the Ohio River Scenic Byway in October with a $500 grand prize.

Scarecrows must be placed within two blocks of the scenic route between Hanover and Rising Sun from Oct. 2 to Oct. 31. Photos of each scarecrow will be posted on Facebook page allowing viewers to "like" or vote for those they think are the scariest, funniest, most creative and cutest. The individual, business or organization with the most "likes" in each category will win $250 and consideration for the grand prize.
