[August 19, 2011]
The annual Recruiting Jamboree hosted
by Cub Scout Pack 111 will be from 9 a.m. to noon Aug. 27 at the Boy
Scout camp area in Kickapoo Park. The event is organized to
demonstrate activities of Scouting to young boys who may be
interested in joining the pack. To be eligible for Cub Scouts, boys
must be in first through fifth grade.

Exhibits will include the Smoke House (staffed by local
firefighters), police cars, car races, food craft, a camping display
and Pinewood Derby. A campfire will be built for roasting hot dogs.
Cub Scout leaders will be available to speak with parents and answer
questions.
Cub Scout Pack 111 is chartered by the First United Methodist
Church and involves boys in District 27 elementary schools. A
committee of 11 adult leaders guides the activities and is dedicated
to building character, teaching responsibility, offering
opportunities to learn and developing individual skills and talents.
The pack is involved with community service projects but has fun
throughout the year, as well. Last year the pack assisted with
Together for Lincoln and was part of Scout Sweep. The boys also
entered the Pinewood Derby, went camping and to a water park,
attended a St. Louis Cardinals game, and had a swim party, just to
name a few events.
To find out more about Scouting, interested boys and their
parents are encouraged to attend the Recruiting Jamboree.
