Tuesday and Tuesday night: An upper-level disturbance will pass to
the north of the region through Tuesday night. This disturbance and
outflow boundaries from thunderstorms across northern Illinois may
serve as a focus for thunderstorm development, mainly during the
afternoon and evening hours. A few severe storms are possible, with
damaging wind gusts and large hail the primary threats.
Wednesday through Monday:
Thunderstorm chances will persist through Wednesday as another
upper-level disturbance pushes a cold front through the area. Ahead
of the cold front Wednesday afternoon, heat indexes approaching 100
degrees are likely.
