[August 23, 2011]  While in the movie "Where the Heart Is," a baby was actually born inside a Walmart store, Lincoln's Walmart Supercenter now can claim a similar type of fame.

Sunday afternoon an expectant mother went into labor in the Walmart parking lot and delivered a baby boy in her car.

According to Chief Mark Miller, the Lincoln Fire Department was dispatched to an emergency medical situation at 825 Malerich Drive at 4:12 p.m. Sunday afternoon. By the time the fire department reached the scene, the new baby had already arrived.

Miller said that the Lincoln department assisted by driving the Logan County Paramedic Association ambulance so that both attending EMTs could be at the baby's side during transport to Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital.

A second ambulance was dispatched to the scene and transported the mother.
