Are you ready for some Railer football?

[August 23, 2011]  It is time for the art and balloon fest to happen. All those great things to do and see and eat all are happening this weekend.

But for local sports fans, something else will be beginning this weekend which we all hope will fill our fall Friday nights with enjoyment as we watch our LCHS Railer football team take the field.

This Friday, the Railers start the season at home with the toughest opponent you could pick. Rochester is last year's conference champ, going 9-0, and it will be an early test of how the Railers will do this year.

Justin Tierney, our award-winning freelance sports writer, will again be at all the games, giving LDN readers firsthand reporting as the boys of fall try to improve on their three-win season of 2010.

The Railers will have five of their nine games at home this year, and everyone is invited to come out and support our youth. And then on Saturday morning, visit the LDN Sports section to read up on the game.

Oh, and lest we forget, "Go, Railers."
