 Library shares its wealth of books

The Lincoln Public Library had a book
sale Saturday and Sunday, giving book lovers and collectors a chance
to look for some good stories, stock up for winter reading or find
those "must-haves" that were waiting to be discovered.

 Fiction, nonfiction and children's books were bought in singles,
stacks and sacks-full, clearing the library's basement storage area
and making room for the next weeding of the shelves. Also on sale
were vinyl records -- LPs, long-playing records.
Saturday afternoon library director Richard Sumrall said, "When
we arrived this morning, there were already over 70 people here --
some at the front door and some at the back -- waiting for us to
open the door.
"We began sorting and readying the room last week; otherwise, we
would never have it ready," Sumrall explained. "Boxes were stacked
two deep and two boxes high under the tables, which are already
covered with lines of books. You can see how much space has been
cleared," he offered, "so we have sold quite a few, and we have till
5 o'clock and a few hours tomorrow (Sunday). We're pleased with the
event. It's going quite well."
