[December 10, 2011]  LAS VEGAS (AP) -- Las Vegas saw a modest, 2.7 percent increase in visitation in October compared with the same month a year ago, marking the 20th straight month of growth in tourist numbers.

The higher visitor count comes along with a 10.4 percent year-over-year increase in gambling revenue for Clark County.

The Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority reported Friday that more than 3.4 million people visited in October. The number of convention visitors was up 9.2 percent compared with the same time last year.

The numbers put the city's visitor count up 4.5 percent for the first ten months this year.

Occupancy neared 87 percent in the more than 150,000 hotel rooms in the city, and the average daily room rate was almost $115.
