Catherine Fultz

[December 14, 2011]  GIRARD -- Catherine E. Riley Fultz, 84, of Springfield, formerly of Girard, died Monday, Dec. 12, 2011, at 4:55 a.m. at Maple Ridge Care Centre in Lincoln.

Visitation will be on Saturday from 10:30 a.m. until the funeral service at noon at Calvert & Ferry Funeral Home in Girard. The Rev. Terry Turner will officiate. Pallbearers will be Tony Stone, Tony Damm, Dustin Fultz, Robert Pehn, Jason Burrell and Virgil Beckum. Honorary pallbearers will be Buddy and Larry Burrell, Scott Mattingly, Greg Fultz, and Mark Matthews.

Burial will be in Girard Cemetery.

Catherine was born June 15, 1927, in Ashland. Her parents were Russell and Myrtis Sorrills Riley. She married Leonard Fultz on May 12, 1945.

She is survived by a son, Gary (and Sue) Fultz of Farmersville; four daughters, Judy Obaze of Suitland, Md., Kathy Burrell of Lincoln, Deborah (and Gary) McCoy of Washington, Ill., and Lori (and Brian) Lyman of Mattoon; a sister, Mary Seeley of Montrose, Colo.; half sisters Sally White of Springfield and Gloria of Kansas; half brother David Riley of Springfield; 15 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; several step-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by her husband; a daughter, Linda Watkins; and a son, Frank Fultz.

Catherine belonged to the Red Hat Ladies Club and was an Eagles member. She was also a volunteer at Planned Parenthood in Springfield. She bowled in Girard for many years and was an avid bingo player.

She graduated from Lanphier High School in Springfield.

Memorials may be made to Prairie Temple Assembly of God, Virden.
