[December 20, 2011]  The Lincoln/Logan County Sports Commission will soon celebrate one year since its beginning. During this year, behind-the-scenes progress has been slowly paced so as to ensure a solid organization is built from the ground up. To kick off 2012 and year No. 2, the sports commission, along with the Abraham Lincoln Tourism Bureau of Logan County, announces the unveiling of a new website in January. The website, www.lincolnlogansports.com, will be an online resource for sporting events, players, spectators and promoters.

To make this resource accommodating to all entities, its main objective will be to provide a sporting events calendar that encompasses the entire county. All schools, private entities and community organizations that have sporting events are urged to submit their schedules as soon as possible. This combined effort will help direct prospective promoters to the open dates when planning their events, so as not to conflict with others and allow for better promotion of planned events through many media outlets. Events and calendar listings can be emailed to admin@abe66.com at any time, with the online calendar updates implemented quarterly.

Other online resources that will be added to the website will include coach information, facility information and information regarding hotel-motel accommodations.

The sports commission and tourism bureau hope that 2012 will be a year filled with many new tournaments and sporting events in Lincoln and Logan County.
