[December 20, 2011]  Ruth Freesmeier of Lincoln won $40 worth of thrift store gift certificates in the weekend Christmas window competition between Mission Mart, New Beginnings, Pink Shutter and Goodwill.

Each of the four local thrift stores decked their windows creatively with various Christmas decorations and let shoppers vote for their favorite display. All the ballots were combined after closing, and the four stores offered one lucky winner $40 worth of thrift store gift certificates for the holiday season.

Freesmeier was very excited to discover she had won the prize.

"I almost didn't make it out to the stores on Saturday because of the busy holiday season," she said. "I'm so glad I decided to fit it into my schedule!"

Ruth's husband is Dr. Freesmeier, a chiropractor in Lincoln.

New Beginnings Thrift Shoppe received the most votes for their window display.

Katie Alexander, manager of New Beginnings said: "We are very honored and humbled at the response from our shoppers. We are so thankful to partner with other great stores like Mission Mart, Pink Shutter and Goodwill. It was such a fun promotion and we cannot wait to work with them again."
