WLB board reviews repairs and inspections

[December 22, 2011]  T West Lincoln-Broadwell school board meeting followed the district's winter concert Tuesday night, wrapping up the first half of the 2011-2012 school year with a review of recent activity. The board acknowledged the band and chorus for their concert and the kindergarten through fifth-grade students for their musical program.

Superintendent Bailey Climer's report:
  • Acknowledged an eighth-grade program, "Mission to Mars," scheduled for Jan 6.

  • Commended Mrs. Miller's class for collecting over $800 for the Angel Tree.

  • RTI benchmarking will be during the second week of January.

  • The assistant volleyball coaching position has been advertised, and one application has been received.

  • Tremco inspected the spot leaks caused by recent heavy rain.

  • Simplex inspected the alarm system.

  • The wheelchair van hydraulics have been repaired again; minor door problems on buses 1, 3 and 4 have been repaired; Ponder reimbursed the school district for warranty work that was completed at TNT.

Board action:

  • Adopted the 2012-2013 tax levy presented at the public hearing.

  • Recognized the health-life-safety findings and instructed the superintendent to handle the issues stated; also asked him to find someone who could address the concerns with the flagpole.

  • Approved policy changes and inclusion of a concussion policy as presented by the policy committee chairman.

  • Set eighth-grade graduation for 7 p.m. May 18.
