[December 27, 2011]  MIDDLETOWN -- Dr. Terry Scandrett, superintendent and principal at New Holland-Middletown Elementary School District 88, is retiring. He submitted an official resignation at the December school board meeting.

The resignation was accepted by the board and discussion included the process to replace Scandrett. The board is accepting applications for the position and established Dec. 31 as the deadline for applications. The individual chosen to replace Scandrett would begin the duties on July 1, 2012.

Scandrett is in his sixth year as superintendent and principal for the elementary school district. The school, located in Middletown, has over 100 students in kindergarten through eighth grade.

Board actions included approval of certification of the tax levy and the auditor for 2012-2014.

In recent school activity, the eighth-grade class completed their fundraiser and earned almost $1,000. Kyle Fulcher was the top seller.
