The community was invited to come to the Lincoln Knights of Columbus on Saturday to help Josh Short and his family with medical bills. And they came by the hundreds. Josh suffered a brain aneurysm and is rehabilitating but cannot work at this time.

In all, 126 silent auction items, five raffle prizes and nine live auction items, plus 265 pounds of pork and tables filled with baked goods, were sold during the day and evening.

When it was all over, it was all gone, and a remarkable $18,500 had been collected for Josh and his family.

In a show of great charity, Denise Merriman, who won the $1,600 50-50 pot, donated $1,000 of it back to Josh and his family.
