[February 01, 2011]  WASHINGTON (AP) -- Citing impending bad weather, the White House has rescheduled President Barack Obama's trip to Penn State University to Thursday.

Obama had been scheduled to visit the campus in the politically important state of Pennsylvania on Wednesday to tour university labs and give remarks on the economy and American innovation.

The White House cited the weather in announcing late Monday that the trip would be pushed back by one day.

A monster winter storm was bearing down on a third of the nation Monday. Forecasters say it's expected to leave a potentially deadly path of heavy snow and ice from the Rockies all the way to New England, followed by a wave of bone-chilling cold.
