At the Jack Nutt Arena at Lincoln College on Saturday, two men with distinguished careers at the school were honored by having the basketball court named in their honor. The following bio on Alan Pickering was provided by Lincoln College.

Pickering joined the teaching staff at Lincoln College in 1970 and became the men's basketball coach in 1971, a position he held for 16 years. During his tenure, he led the Lynx to seven regional championships. His 1981 team finished second in the nation in the NJCAA Division I national tournament, the highest finish for any NJCAA Division I team from Illinois. Pickering retired from coaching in 1987 and continued to serve as athletic director, then dean of students and finally as vice president for college relations and student services before retiring. During his years in the LC Athletic Department, he saw the program grow from three sports to the 19 offered today.
