Lincoln College wrestling sending 10 to nationals

[February 14, 2011]  RIVER GROVE -- The Lincoln College wrestling team competed in the Midwest regional tournament Sunday at Triton College. The Lynx came away with a fourth-place finish and qualified all 10 wrestlers for the national tournament in Spokane, Wash., Feb. 25-26.

"I was a little disappointed in some of our performances today; however, the main objective was to qualify all 10 wrestlers and we did that," said head coach Dave Klemm.

  • Harper CC, 83.5

  • Rend Lake CC, 80.5

  • Lincoln College, 74.5

  • Waubonsee CC, 24.5

  • Triton CC, 0

  • Wright CC, 0

  • Kennedy King CC, 0

  • 125 lbs. -- Prentice Thomas, first

  • 133 lbs. -- D'Marcus Spencer, second

  • 141 lbs. -- DaMonte Riley, third

  • 149 lbs. -- Mark Marianovich, first

  • 157 lbs. -- Christian Taborn, third

  • 165 lbs. -- Rick Goerke, fourth

  • 174 lbs. -- James Haywood, third

  • 197 lbs. -- Fred Moses, third

Michael Johnson at 184 pounds and heavyweight Andre Dunn qualified as wild cards by a vote of the coaches.

Prentice Thomas was voted outstanding wrestler of the tournament by defeating two returning all-Americans.
