Princess Diana's brother says he's getting engaged

[February 15, 2011]  LONDON (AP) -- Princess Diana's brother Charles Spencer says he is engaged to Canadian philanthropist Karen Gordon.

InsuranceThe ninth Earl Spencer, best known for his moving eulogy to his sister during her 1997 funeral, is to wed in a private ceremony at his family's ancestral home in Althorp in central England on June 18.

Spencer, 46, is a writer and broadcaster who once worked as a contributing correspondent for NBC News. He's the author of books including "The Spencer Family" and "Blenheim: Battle for Europe."

Gordon is the founder and chief executive of Whole Child International, a Los Angeles-based charity which works to improve the lot of orphaned, abandoned or abused children.

A statement from Spencer's representatives said no further details would be disclosed Tuesday.
