An inspection by the city of Lincoln's engineering and street departments, along with the Illinois Department of Transportation, has closed the Oglesby Avenue bridge to traffic. A detailed report of the condition and what needs to be done before reopening the bridge will be issued at a later date. Leaving the cause of the closure to experts, we took these pictures to show the condition of the bridge without any conclusions drawn.

The bridge has been blocked off.

The bridge has large wooden piers with boards covering them.

The north side shows gaps under the concrete truss.

Perhaps the quick thaw has shifted the ground under the bridge.

A look at the Palmer Avenue bridge, which is still open to traffic, shows a similar construction.

The quick thaw has Brainard's Branch moving at a brisk pace.
