David Robinson

[February 23, 2011]  ARMINGTON -- David Collard Robinson, 71, of Goreville, formerly of Armington, died Feb. 21, 2011, at 8:26 p.m. at Heartland Regional Medical Center in Marion.

His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 26, at the Armington Christian Church. John Lyons will conduct the service. Visitation will be at the church from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday.

Burial will be in Oak View Cemetery, Armington.

Arrangements are by Quiram-Peasley Funeral Home of Atlanta.

Mr. Robinson retired in 1999 from the Eureka Co., where he was employed for 32 years.

He was born March 14, 1939, in Alsey. His parents were John W. and Frances E. Collard Robinson. He married Loretta Yentes at the Armington Christian Church on June 30, 1963.

He is survived by his wife, of Goreville; one daughter, Marsha Robinson (and Bruce White) of Minier; one son, Curtis Robinson of Normal; two brothers, Bill (and Marge) Robinson of Decatur and Bruce Robinson of Chicago; one grandson, Trevor White of Minier; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was a fan of all airplanes, especially World War II planes. He earned his private pilot's license and owned a small private plane for a few years. Later, he flew radio-controlled airplanes.

The highlight of his life was a trip to the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs a few years ago to witness the graduation of the son of good friends.

Dave was a social person and never met a stranger.

Memorials may be made to an organization of the donor's choice.
