[February 26, 2011]  NEW YORK (AP) -- Jeffrey Tambor has pulled out of Broadway's latest revival of "La Cage aux Folles," (lah-KAJ'-oh-fahl) citing complications from a recent hip surgery.

Producers said Friday in a statement that "the pain and challenge of performing in a musical eight times a week proved to be too physically demanding" for Tambor. He's best known for his roles on TV in "The Larry Sanders Show" and "Arrested Development."

On Feb. 15, Tambor replaced Kelsey Grammer in the role of Georges, the suave owner of a glitzy drag club on the French Riviera. Producers say Tambor's last show was Thursday.

Chris Hoch will play the role Friday night. Casting for the role of Georges will be announced soon.

Grammer was married Friday at Longacre Theater, where "La Cage aux Folles" is playing.
