The
Humane Society of Logan County hosted a chili lunch on
Saturday, Jan. 15, at Friendship Manor. The event produced net
income of $1,400. Merchandise sales were $427.
Thanks to all the amazing volunteers and to Cherrilyn and Lyle Johnson and
Marsha Brown, who chaired the event, for all their hard work. The organization
would not be so successful without their dedication.
The
United Way of Logan County had its annual meeting on Jan.
10. Four new board members were accepted: Heather Combs, Dawn Fry,
Jason Lawrence and Paresh Patel. The following officers for 2011
were installed: Angela Bossingham, president; Sheila Nelson, vice
president and campaign chair; Heidi Browne, campaign co-chair; and
Patti Becker, recording secretary. The next meeting of the board
will be on Feb. 21 at 5:30 p.m. in the Farm Bureau Board Room.
So far the 2011 United Way campaign is going great. The organization has yet
to receive reports from all of the division leaders but hopes to have those
reports in the next few weeks. If anyone has intended to make a contribution or
pledge but has not done so, it is not too late. The people of the community who
rely on the United Way's funded agencies for support need your help. All funds
received are used for people who reside here in Logan County.
