French court convicts Warner head, ex-Vivendi boss

[January 22, 2011]  PARIS (AP) -- A French court has fined Warner Music Group CEO Edgar Bronfman Jr. euro5 million ($6.7 million) for misleading investors about the Vivendi media conglomerate when he was a top executive there.

HardwareThe court also convicted former high-flying Vivendi CEO Jean-Marie Messier of misusing company funds and handed him a three-year suspended prison sentence.

Bronfman was convicted of "transmitting false or misleading information" about Vivendi. He was given a 15-month suspended sentence as well as the fine.
