LC wrestling wins Monon Bell Classic

[January 24, 2011]  CRAWFORDSVILLE, Ind. -- Lincoln College wrestling traveled to Wabash College to compete in the Monon Bell Classic. The Lynx came away with a 4-0 record and a first-place finish.

Lincoln started the day with a 19-16 win over Muskegon (Mich.) Community College. They followed that up with a 36-12 win over Wabash Team II. In the semifinals Lincoln defeated Central College of Pella, Iowa, 27-13. In the finals Lincoln beat Wabash Team I 23-15 to earn the tournament championship.

Four Lynx individuals went 4-0 on the day: Prentice Thomas at 125 pounds, D'Marcus Spencer at 133 pounds, Michael Johnson at 184 pounds and Andre Dunn, heavyweight.

"It was a real good performance today," said Lincoln head coach Dave Klemm. "Our team is really starting to put together consistent performances. With the postseason right around the corner, this is the perfect time to start peaking."

The next competition for the Lynx will be Saturday, when they travel to Triton College in River Grove for the Triton duals.
