[January 28, 2011]  Police and accident reports for Friday, Jan. 28:

Accidents

Jan. 25, 3:42 p.m.

Accident occurred at the intersection of Broadway and South Sherman and involved one motorist and two pedestrians.

  • Werth, Sophia L., 32, of Lincoln; 2003 Ford Windstar

According to the police report, two pedestrians were walking northbound at the intersection of Broadway and Sherman and were not paying close attention to oncoming traffic.

Werth said that as she approached the intersection, she saw the pedestrians but thought they were waiting to cross. She momentarily looked away from the road and at something inside her vehicle. When she returned her eyes to the road, she noted that the pedestrians were in the crosswalk. She attempted to stop her vehicle to avoid hitting them but was unable to do so.

Both pedestrians were transported by the Logan County Paramedics to Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital.

Werth was ticketed for driving too fast for conditions and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.
