[July 01, 2011]  This Friday, July 1, the Knights of Columbus will host a Friends of Lincoln Sports dinner. It will be a steak dinner with a potato bar and salad bar, and carryouts will be available. The times are 6 to 8 p.m. and the cost is $15. Proceeds will go to fund Lincoln area sports programs.

The committee for the Fourth of July celebration and fireworks in Lincoln invites you to a three-piece fried chicken fundraiser dinner, hosted at the American Legion, 1740 Fifth St. The meal will be served Friday, July 1, from 4:30 to 7 p.m. The menu will include potato salad, baked beans, roll and beverage. The cost is $7.50 per ticket, and advance purchases may be made at Lincoln Park District headquarters. All proceeds from the dinner will be used to offset the costs of Lincoln's fireworks.

The Humane Society of Logan County's next spay-neuter transport to Animal Protective League of Springfield will be Monday, July 25. Call 217-737-4042 now to make arrangements for your dog or cat to be spayed or neutered in July. The fees for all dogs except pit bulls and pit bull mixes are $55. Pits are free. Male cats are $35 to neuter, female cats are $45 to spay, and feral cats are $25. All animals must have proof of a rabies shot, or one must be given at the spay-neuter time. Other services are available at a reduced cost.
