[July 01, 2011]  Gloria Goodman will retire from Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital on Friday after a career of more than 31 years working in the Memorial Health System.

Gloria has served most recently as nurse manager in Family Maternity Suites. She began her career at age 16 and worked as a nurse's aide for four years. She spent 23 years as labor nurse at Memorial Medical Center before coming to ALMH.

"When I went back to nursing school, my dream had always been to return to ALMH someday as a nurse," she said. "It has been a delight to return here and be a part of building the new hospital."

ALMH will host a celebration in honor of Gloria on Friday from 2-4 p.m. in Steinfort Conference Room A (lower level). Cake and punch will be served.

"We spend more working time with our co-workers than we do most of our relatives, and they become our extended families," she said. "I will always cherish the relationships I have formed here and the opportunity I had to return to ALMH."
