9-year-old Chicagoan shot in head

[July 06, 2011]  CHICAGO (AP) -- Police in Chicago are investigating after a 9-year-old boy was shot in the head in the city's Roseland neighborhood.

Authorities say the shooting happened outside at about 3:20 a.m. Wednesday.

A spokesman for the Chicago Fire Department says the child was taken from the South Side neighborhood to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in serious-to-critical condition.

Authorities haven't released his name or any details about the shooting.
