Emden Historical Society hosting cemetery walk

[July 07, 2011]  EMDEN -- A cemetery walk, sponsored by the Emden Historical Society, is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. July 22 and 23 at Bethel Cemetery. Interpreters will portray individuals who are buried in the cemetery, and visitors will walk from one site to the next according to a number system. Visitors may bring seated walkers or lawn chairs to the presentations. Golf carts and wheelchairs will be available.

Interpreters will be Deborah Senger as Blossom Huffman, longtime owner of The Mill in Lincoln; Allen Payne as his grandfather Sam Payne; Gary Shirley as his grandfather Galen Shirley; Al Dirks portraying his father, Albert; and Kurt Walker portraying his father, Gordon.

Tickets are $5 per person and may be purchased in advance by calling 217-376-3859 or at the cemetery just prior to the event. Proceeds will be used for maintenance and upkeep at Bethel School.
