Recognition of
Anna Sielaff and
Ben Steiner
Zion Lutheran School, Lincoln
WHEREAS, the shot
put and discus are two of the oldest field events in the sport of
track and field, and
WHEREAS, success in both
shot put and discus depends on explosive strength. as well as
quickness to generate momentum, and
WHEREAS, the track team at Zion
Lutheran School in Lincoln had two students qualify for the
statewide Illinois Lutheran State Track Championship in River
Forest, IL on May 21-22, and
WHEREAS, six-grader Anna Sielaff
placed third in the girls' state discus competition with a toss of
83'2" and placed ninth place in the girls' state shot put
competition with a throw of 26'2, and
WHEREAS, seventh-grader Ben Steiner
placed seventh in the boys' state shot put competition with a throw
of 35'8.25"
NOW THEREFORE the Logan County
Board congratulates Zion Lutheran School students Anna Sielaff and
Ben Steiner on their achievements and wishes them continued success
in athletic endeavors.

Recognition of
Holly Davis
Lincoln Junior High School
WHEREAS, long jumping has been
contested since the Olympic games of ancient Greece, and
WHEREAS, long jumping requires
strength, speed and timing, and
WHEREAS, Holly Davis was a
seventh-grade athlete on the Lincoln Junior High School track team,
and
WHEREAS, Holly Davis set a
milestone for the Lincoln Junior High School track team by winning
four first-places in the Illinois Elementary School Association
sectional track meet at Rochester, and
WHEREAS, Holly Davis competed in
the 100-meter dash, the 200-meter dash, the 4x 100-meter relay and
the long jump at the 2011 Illinois Elementary School
Association state track meet, and
WHEREAS, Holly
Davis won third place in the seventh-grade girls long jump at the
state track meet with a jump of 16'-02.5",
NOW THEREFORE the Logan County
Board congratulates Holly Davis on her athletic achievements and
wishes her continued success in her athletic endeavors.

Danielle D'Andrea
Lincoln Junior High School
WHEREAS, competitive running
requires focus, strength and speed, and
WHEREAS, running provides numerous
health benefits as well as life-long enjoyment, and
WHEREAS, sixth-grader Danielle
D'Andrea was a member of the Lincoln Junior High School track team,
and
WHEREAS, the LJHS
seventh-grade girls track team placed second in the the Illinois
Elementary School Association sectional track meet, and
WHEREAS, Danielle
D'Andrea placed second in the 100-meter dash and the 200-meter dash
at the sectional track meet, and
WHEREAS, Danielle
D'Andrea qualified for three events at the 2011 Illinois Elementary
School Association state track meet, and
WHEREAS, Danielle
D'Andrea placed seventh in the seventh-grade girls 100-meter finals
at the state track meet with a time of 13.83 seconds, and
WHEREAS, Danielle
D'Andrea finished eighth in the 200-meter finals at the state track
meet with a time of 27.55 seconds,
NOW THEREFORE the Logan County
Board congratulates Danielle D'Andrea on her achievements and wishes
her continued success in athletic endeavors.

Recognition of
the Boys Basketball Team
Lincoln Junior High School
WHEREAS, participating in athletics
helps students learn teamwork, sportsmanship, and the skills to
handle competitive situations, and
WHEREAS, the 8th grade boys
basketball team at Lincoln Junior High School completed their season
with a 20-8 record, and
WHEREAS, the Lincoln Junior High
School 8th grade boys basketball team defeated El Paso Gridley,
25-18, in the first round of the Illinois Elementary Association
Class 8-3A State Tournament in Monticello, and
WHEREAS, it was the play of Will
Cook in the final period of that game that helped bring home the
victory when he nailed five of seven free throw attempts in the 4th
period to help keep their opponents at bay, and
WHEREAS, in 2010 the Lincoln Junior
High School 8th grade boys basketball team took third place in the
IESA Class 8-3A State Tournament, and
WHEREAS, the Lincoln Junior High
School 8th grade boys basketball team defeated Peoria Christian,
24-16, to take the third place spot in the IESA 8-3A State
Tournament this year, and
WHEREAS, top scorers for Lincoln
Junior High School in the final game were Garrett Aeilts, Cameron
Cook, Will Cook and Brent Metelko,
NOW THEREFORE the Logan County
Board congratulates Lincoln Junior High School boys 8th grade boys
basketball players Garrett Aeilts, Andre Birts, Max Boch, Shawn
Cannon, Cameron Cook, Will Cook, K.J. Fry, Cooper Hake, Aron Hopp,
Tim Jackson, Brent Metelko, Griffin Pollock, Eric Sutton and Ryan
Thomas, and coach Don Aeilts on their team's achievements and wishes
them continued success in their future endeavors.

Cameron Cook
Lincoln Junior High School
WHEREAS, high jumping has been
contested since the Olympic games of ancient Greece, and
WHEREAS, success in high jumping
requires a combination of timing and approach in clearing the high
bar as well as physical strength and agility, and
WHEREAS, Cameron Cook was an eighth
grader on the Lincoln Junior High School track team, and
WHEREAS, both the
7th and 8th grade Lincoln Junior High School boys track teams
brought home third-place plaques at the 2011 Track and Field
Sectionals in Rochester, and
WHEREAS, Cameron Cook qualified for
the Illinois Elementary School Association state
track meet in both the 100-meter dash and the high jump, and
WHEREAS, Cameron
Cook won the eighth-grade high-jump championship with a winning jump
of six-feet,
NOW THEREFORE the Logan County
Board congratulates Cameron Cook on his athletic achievements and
wishes him continued success in athletic endeavors.

Recognizing
Wrestler Brent Metelko
WHEREAS, wrestling is a tactical,
mental and physical sport of strength, power and agility with
benefits that reach far beyond wins, losses and championships, and
WHEREAS, wrestling allows
participants to develop good personal discipline as well as
self-confidence that can be used both on and off the mat, and
WHEREAS, being a winning wrestler
requires speed, flexibility, stamina, and strategy, and
WHEREAS, Brent Metelko, an eighth
grader at Lincoln Junior High School, had a successful season as a
wrestler in the 112 lb. division, and
WHEREAS, Brent Metelko took fifth
place in the Illinois Elementary School Association Boys State
Wrestling Meet at Northern Illinois University on March 11, 2011,
NOW THEREFORE the Logan County
Board congratulates Brent Metelko on his achievements in wrestling
career and wishes him continued success in his future endeavors.
