[July 09, 2011]  Devan Conley, a student team member at Culver's of Lincoln, was recently awarded $1,000 from the Culver's VIP Foundation Scholarship Fund to pursue her education at Heartland Community College. The Culver's VIP Scholarship program has awarded $278,000 to further the education of 246 team members nationwide in 2011.

The 246 is the largest number ever to benefit from the program since Culver's began funding scholarships in 1993. Culver's has invested more than $1.8 million in student scholarships to more than 1,800 team members since then.

"Our commitment to our team members begins at the restaurant level, where we teach them responsibility, leadership and teamwork skills," says Elaine Aue, owner and operator of the Lincoln restaurant. "Through the VIP we are able to extend our commitment by helping them reach their long-term goals."

Team members submit applications for funding, and judging teams are made up of supply partners and educators.

All 2011 scholarship recipients will be invited to a VIP recognition ceremony at the River Arts Center in Prairie du Sac, Wis., and a reception at the Culver's Support Center in August to celebrate their accomplishments.

Culver's VIP Foundation is a tax-exempt, not-for-profit entity developed in 2002 to assist young team members in achieving their goal of earning a college or technical school degree. Primary financial support of the program comes from the generous contributions of Culver's supplier partners. Other funding comes from franchisee support, funding from Culver Franchising System and special events.
