[July 12, 2011]  NEW YORK (AP) -- Sheila Bair, a key government official during the 2008 financial crisis, has a book deal.

InsuranceThe Free Press will publish Bair's "Bull by the Horns" next year, before the 2012 election. Bair was appointed head of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. in 2006 and stepped down last week. Free Press publisher Martha Levin said Monday that Bair would write in detail about the crisis, including her conflicts with Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner, and make recommendations for the future.

Bair was among the first officials to raise concerns about the explosion of high-risk lending to borrowers with bad credit. The FDIC is charged with maintaining public confidence in the banking system.
