[July 13, 2011]  NEW DELHI (AP) -- Police in India say they have arrested four men after cameras installed at a traffic signal taped them beating a man to death on a busy street in southern India.

Senior police official S. Nizamuddin said Wednesday the beating happened Sunday in Coimbatore in the southern state of Tamil Nadu.

The footage showed two men on a motorcycle and two others on foot hit Santosh Kumar as he walked down a street. They dragged him to the roadside and smashed a large stone on his head and kicked him several times. Television stations aired the video on Wednesday.

Nizamuddin said the attackers and Kumar had been drinking and got into a fight earlier. Police are looking to charge the attackers with murder once evidence testing is complete.
