 This year there are approximately 25 runners and 10 support staff
signed up for the event. Each runner is required to raise $750 in
donations, and they end the evening in Peoria on Aug. 6 by
presenting the Lincoln team check on live television during the
telethon.The run is always the first Saturday in August. The trek
goes through Lincoln, Hartsburg, Emden, Delavan, Tremont, Groveland,
East Peoria and into the Caterpillar parking lot for a celebration
of the yearlong accomplishment.
Last year runners were able to give $12,500 to St. Jude
Children's Research Hospital. This year they are increasing that
goal and reaching for $17,000.
Although event coordinators said they have several local
businesses as sponsors this year, they still could use more support,
and donations continue to be accepted.
