FOP 208 softball at Mount Pulaski

[June 03, 2011]  MOUNT PULASKI -- Lincoln FOP 208 girls met in Mount Pulaski Wednesday night for a softball doubleheader against Mount Pulaski.

In the first game, FOP 208 started off with five runs to take an early lead. Mount Pulaski answered with several of their own runs, and their defense was able to shut down FOP 208's hitting. In the last inning, Mount Pulaski came back to beat FOP 208 by one run, 12-11.

In game two, Mount Pulaski proved to have the game under control with their defense. FOP 208 was able to start off with another early lead, with four runs in the second inning, Their bats were strong throughout the game, but Mount Pulaski's infield was able to hold FOP 208's runs down. In the last inning, FOP 208 was up by three runs, but Mount Pulaski was able to score three runs on errors to tie the game. FOP 208 lost by one run, 10-9, with a base hit from Mount Pulaski.

Losing pitchers were Breanna Waller in the first game and Kelsey Pickett in the second game.

FOP 208's record goes to 2-3.

They will face Clinton in a doubleheader in Lincoln on Monday at 6 p.m.
