Rebecca Van Nydeggen, local Salvation Army director, urges customers
in hardship to seek assistance before residential water service is
actually shut off for nonpayment. Individuals or families who
reside in Logan County and who are facing shutoff of their Illinois
American Water residential service due to financial hardship may
apply for supplemental assistance to help pay their water bills.
Household eligibility is determined through the application process
available at the Keest Center, 307 N. Kickapoo St. in Lincoln.
The Salvation Army is the sole agent for Illinois American Water
for the H2O Help to Others program in Logan County.
Program assistance awarded may not cover a recipient's entire
water bill. The H2O Help to Others assistance is available only to
customers with Illinois American Water residential accounts in their
own names (not for third parties) and will not apply to terminated
accounts in collection from past years' shutoffs.
For more information or to schedule an appointment at the Keest
Center, call 217-732-7890.
