Cub Pack 111 annual Clean Sweep benefits downtown area

Saturday morning approximately 20 kids and adults representing Cub Pack 111 and Girl Scout Troop 1362 gathered at Washington-Monroe School to participate in their annual Clean Sweep Day in Lincoln. The group focused their work on the downtown area of Lincoln.

Their first stop of the day was the playground at Washington-Monroe.
 

 

Leader Cathy Sanders holds the bag while this young man deposits the trash he has collected.

 



 

Safety gloves were donated by Eaton Corp. to prevent cuts and scrapes.
 

A trailer with ice, water and other cold drinks accompanied the kids along their route.

 

After cleaning the courthouse lawn, the kids moved on to the sidewalk and curb area.

Their work is winding down.

 

 

 

 

Time for lunch in the park, with cold sandwiches, cold drinks and some really excellent cookies provided by various businesses.

With temperatures in the high 90s, getting some shade tree time feels pretty good.
