[June 03, 2011]  The Lincoln Junior Woman's Club has rescheduled its free Movie in the Park event for Saturday, June 4, at Postville Park. The movie "Cars" will be shown on a 28-foot-wide inflatable, starting at 8:30 p.m. Visitors should bring lawn chairs or blankets. Concessions will be available for purchase. 

A second Movie in the Park is planned for July 30 at Melrose Park. Several sponsorship openings are still available to local businesses. Sponsorship levels range from $100 to $500. Businesses interested in receiving more information about the sponsorship should email LincolnJWC@comcast.net.

Donations from the public will be accepted the night of the movies to support future Movie in the Park events as well.

Anna Walters, a seventh-grader at Zion Lutheran School in Lincoln, has been selected as the Zion Lutheran May Student of the Month.

Anna has been an honor roll student, and her ZLS activities include basketball, volleyball, track, student council, Bible Bowl, Scholastic Bowl, choir and band.

Anna is a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Lincoln. Her church and community activities include youth group, youth conference, Camp CILCA, 4-H, piano and the library reading program.

Anna most enjoys playing basketball, spending time with friends and reading books.

Her parents are Kevin and Keri Walters of Lincoln.

The Area Agency on Aging for Lincolnland is accepting nominations for the 2011 Dorothy S. Kimball Award for outstanding accomplishment in the field of aging.

The Dorothy S. Kimball Award was established to honor individuals and organizations in the counties of Cass, Christian, Greene, Jersey, Logan, Macoupin, Mason, Menard, Montgomery, Morgan, Sangamon and Scott who work in the field of aging or on behalf of older adults and family caregivers. Achievements that can be recognized include adaptation or revision of programs or services to meet the current needs of older adults and their family members; public education regarding the services and benefits available to the older population and services; formal education of future workers in the field; identification of an unmet need and working to fill that need; creativity in service provision to reach individuals in need of the service, advocacy or legislation; outstanding service to the older population; and community adaptation to help older adults remain in their own homes in the community as long as possible.

The award is named for the late Dorothy S. Kimball, who served as executive director of the Area Agency on Aging for over 25 years.
