[June 06, 2011]  Jeff and Maritta Robinson, event co-chairs for the Logan County Relay for Life, hosted a yard sale Saturday to benefit the cause and bring attention to an upcoming event. Thirteen adult and teen Relay for Life volunteers assisted shoppers, carried items to vehicles and straightened merchandise. Beverages and snacks were also on sale.

"Every dollar raised goes to Relay for Life," Jeff reminded shoppers.

Relay for Life of Logan County will be from 6 p.m. Friday, June 17, to 6 a.m. Saturday, June 18, at Lincoln College. The overnight activity is a reminder that cancer does not sleep, and neither can support for research and services for victims and survivors of the dreaded disease.

"We've received permission to also conduct 'Paint the Town Purple,'" Maritta said, "so volunteers should meet at 6 p.m. Friday, June 10, at Lincoln College, to organize and pick up invitations for distribution. Then we'll go out across the community and hand out invitations for residents to participate in the Logan County Relay for Life on June 17-18."

In addition, cosmic bowling to benefit Relay for Life will be from 6 to 8 p.m. June 25 at Logan Lanes.

"At $10 per person, bowlers will receive unlimited games for the two hours, free shoe rental, and there will be door prizes," Maritta said. "Plus, you will be benefiting Relay for Life." Advance tickets are required. Contact Maritta Robinson at 217-671-2309 for cosmic bowling tickets or more information on Relay for Life events.
