Speakers included Mike Houston, mayor of Springfield; Gary Plummer,
president and CEO of the Greater Springfield Chamber of Commerce;
and Robert Courtney, vice president of Simon Management Group.
The mall renovations will include new interior and exterior
features and amenities such as soft seating, updated restrooms,
redesigned mall entrances, landscaping, flooring and lighting.
Specific projects include:

Redesigned food
court to include new lighting, furniture and décor.

Modification of
mall entrances, including lighting, natural stone and landscape
features.

Carpeted soft
seating areas added throughout the mall for customer comfort and
convenience.

Redesigned center
court with a dramatic new ceiling treatment.

Modernized
restrooms, including the addition of a nursing station.

New flooring
installed throughout the mall, including both ceramic tile and
carpet in the walkways and courts of all department stores.

New directional
signage, both interior and exterior, for an easy-to-navigate
shopping experience.

New exterior signs
and landscaping.

New retail merchandising units in the
common area.

Establishments in the mall currently employ over 1,800 full-time and
part-time workers.
The regional shopping center is anchored by several major
department stores and features more than 115 nationally recognized
retailers and specialty stores.
White Oaks Mall has been an integral part of the Springfield
business community for over 32 years and generates $113.5 million
annually in economic activity, which includes $11.3 million annually
in state and local taxes.
White Oaks Mall is located at the corner of Veterans Parkway and
Wabash Avenue on Springfield’s west side.
