Francis Marsh

[June 06, 2011]  LINCOLN -- Francis "Fran" L. Marsh, 90, of Lincoln, died Saturday, June 4, 2011, at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital.

His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln, with Tim Searby officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

Burial will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Camp Butler National Cemetery, Springfield. Military rites will be conducted by Lincoln American Legion Post 263.

Mr. Marsh was employed in the industrial engineering management field with Johns Manville, Ethan Allen furniture and Myers Industries in Lincoln.

During World War II he served in the U.S. Army Air Force as a navigator and briefing officer, flying extensively throughout Europe and Africa.

He was born on July 28, 1920, in Minneapolis, Minn. His parents were Fletcher C. and Belle Bristol Marsh. He married Shirley Bergeron in Decatur on Jan. 17, 1948.

He is survived by his wife; one son, Mike (and Pam) Marsh of Mesa, Ariz.; one daughter, Carrie (and Mike) Benvenuti of Newport Coast, Calif.; a brother-in-law, Professor Clifton Bergeron of Urbana; one niece; one nephew; and several cousins.

Funeral Director

Mr. Marsh was a member of the Lincoln Elks Lodge 914 and was an avid golfer and wood craftsman.

He graduated from the University of Illinois with a degree in management after his military service.

Memorials may be made to a military or veteran organization of the donor's choice.
