[June 11, 2011]  MOUNT PULASKI -- Burgrabe's Eagles were on the road Friday night at Frazier Field in Mount Pulaski and scored a season-high 15 runs in four innings, coasting to a 15-3 win.

InsuranceThe Eagles opened the scoring with a walk to Danielle Burgrabe, followed by an RBI single by Brooklyn Hermes. Then Hermes scored on an RBI single by Jazzminn Morecraft. Kalyn Roberts followed by getting on base on a passed ball strikeout, and Alexis Van Hook was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Mya Roberts drew an RBI walk, Sydney Johnson followed with an RBI single, and finally an RBI walk to Katie Hunsley completed the scoring. A line drive by Kylee Foster was snagged by a defensive gem and was the third out with the bases full of Eagles. Mount Pulaski scored a lone run in the first inning on three singles.

The second inning began with a single by Gracie Hemenway, who was driven in on an RBI double by Burgrabe. Hermes walked and Morecraft singled again, scoring Burgrabe. A walk to Kalyn Roberts and an RBI walk to Van Hook followed. Heather Curry drove in the final run of the Eagles' second with a single. The score then stood at 9-1. Mount Pulaski again produced a single run in the second, on a walk and two hits.

The Burgrabe third began with successive walks to Johnson and Hunsley. Foster and Grace Skelton each garnered RBIs by hitting to the right side of the infield and allowing teammates to score. The Mount Pulaski third resulted in their final run, on a walk and two singles.

In the fourth inning, Hemenway singled, Burgrabe worked a walk and Hermes followed with an RBI single. Successive RBI singles by Kalyn Roberts and Van Hook, a single by Curry, and an RBI single by Mya Roberts resulted in the Eagles tallying four more runs. In the bottom half of the fourth, the Eagles held Mount Pulaski scoreless and the contest ended.

Pitching and good defense were the strong suit of the Eagles. Skelton (1-0) got the win in dominating fashion on four strikeouts while allowing only four hits. Curry received her first save of the season by striking out one, allowing just one hit and inducing three groundouts in the final frame from the only batters she faced that inning. Mount Pulaski never had a ball leave the infield against either Eagle pitcher.

Severe weather forced the postponement of game two of the doubleheader, and rescheduling has not occurred.

Burgrabe's Eagles are now 6-0 on the season in the Lincoln Park District league.
