[June 14, 2011]  On June 9, Dennis Anderson Jr. was sentenced on two counts of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child. This sentencing hearing came after Anderson was found guilty on both counts by a jury on Feb. 17.

The court sentenced Anderson to 15 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections, with a term of 10 years for mandatory supervised release on each count. The sentence on each count is mandated to run consecutive to the other, so that the sentence represents a total of 30 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections. Anderson will serve at least 85 percent of this sentence, based upon the Truth in Sentencing Act. The court also imposed a $5,000 fine along with other mandatory fines and court costs.

Post-trial motions are being filed by the defendant in this case and are set for argument on Aug. 15 at 9:30 a.m.

Anderson is represented by Mark Johnson of Bloomington.

Jonathan Wright, first assistant state's attorney, handled the case for the office of the Logan County state's attorney.
