[June 14, 2011]  A brand-new therapy gym was recently completed as part of the "Celebrating Our Past -- Investing in Our Future" renovation project now under way on the campus of The Christian Village.

The new therapy gym is larger than the previous gym, with separate therapy areas for greater privacy. It features a functional kitchen and bathroom for "real-world" occupational therapy. Customized, cutting-edge therapy on the campus is tailored specifically for older adults.

"Increasingly, therapy is an essential part of medical care for older adults," noted administrator Doug Rutter. "Our new gym gives our therapists the space and resources they need to provide the excellent therapy services that The Christian Village is known for. We can provide both short-term rehabilitation services for those planning to return home as well as rehabilitation for our longer-term residents."

The first phase of the campus renovation project was new flooring, window treatments and wallpaper at the garden apartment building.

The new therapy gym is part of the second phase, which entails extensive renovation to the skilled nursing building. It will include creation of several private rehab-to-home rooms, a prayer chapel, a designated hospice room and remodeling of the main entrance.
