San Jose man killed in single-vehicle accident

[June 16, 2011]  SPRINGFIELD -- The Illinois State Police released the following report on a single-vehicle crash that claimed the life of a San Jose man last night.

Incident: Single-vehicle fatal crash

Location: U.S. Route 136 one-fourth mile west of Illinois Route 29 in Mason County

Date, time: June 15, 6:22 p.m.

Individual involved: Driver (deceased), age 52, male, San Jose

Assisting agencies: Illinois State Police, Mason County Sheriff, San Jose Fire / Rescue

Narrative:

A 52-year-old male was driving a green 1998 Chevrolet east on U.S. Route 136 one-fourth mile west of Illinois Route 29. For unknown reasons, the driver lost control of the vehicle, and it rolled over and came to rest upside down in the ditch. The driver was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle.

When medical personnel arrived, the 52-year-old male was unresponsive and had no vital signs. He was pronounced dead at the scene by the Mason County coroner. The name of the driver is being withheld pending family notification.
