[June 17, 2011]  ATLANTA -- When you are a teenager who just graduated from Olympia High School, there are a lot of important things going on in your life. For Savannah Freehill, many of the things an 18-year-old girl would be contemplating about her future have been put on the back burner. Savannah has been diagnosed with stage 4 glioblastoma, a brain cancer, and friends and family have planned a huge benefit to help with the costs of medical care and transportation. They invite the entire community to come out and help this young lady and her family.

The daylong event will be at Chubby's Bar and Grill, 111 SE Vine in Atlanta, and will run from 11 a.m. till 10 p.m.

There will be pulled pork sandwich meals and kids' hot dog meals for a donation. The meals will start at 11.

A bags tournament will begin at 3 p.m., with a 2:30 sign-up. It will be a blind draw and the cost will be $10 a person.

The day will also include a silent auction, a 50-50 drawing and lots of raffles.

There also will be a head shaving auction, so make sure you come out to bid on that favorite person's head you'd like to shave.

The Cattlebandits band will play from noon to 2 p.m. DJ Dave Tackett will entertain after the auction until 6 p.m., and Vintage Daze will close out the evening, playing from 6 to 10 p.m.

Face painting and frozen treats will be available for the kids, and special frozen treats will be available for the adults.

  • Deer head mount

  • Half hog and processing

  • Antique wooden decoys made from World War II PT boats

  • Italian basket from the St. Louis Hills

  • Rocking chair

  • DVD player

  • Child's battery-operated ride-on four-wheeler

  • Smoker grill

  • Grass seed

  • Mulch

There are also tons of restaurant gift certificates and other gift cards and baskets to bid on during the silent auction. The silent auction will run from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., so make sure you get there and get your bids in.

Logan County is one of the most generous counties there is. The organizers of the fundraiser ask that you once again pitch in and come and help a teen and her family in their time of need.
