Convoy for Kids rolls through Mason City

Saturday marked the fourth annual Convoy for Kids. The fundraiser for St. Jude's brought in $7,000 total.

Wiplash Express was built by Randy Witmer for his son, Jordan. The miniature cattle hauler won the Daniel L. Harris Memorial Award at the Convoy for Kids.

 

 

The 1956 Mack truck won the Steve Arnold Award, in honor of the Harris family's friend and vintage truck fan who died in 2005. The truck is owned by Bob Cochran of Decatur.

 

Bob Cochran, on left, from Decatur, was named the oldest trucker, for having his commercial driver's license, or CDL, since 1949. Event organizer Jim Harris presented the award.

Tom Doolin of Ashland was the top vote recipient and won the a first-place trophy. His vote-stuffing reputation has earned him the nickname "The Wringer." Doolin also won last year's top prize.

 

Dan Pegram of Lincoln and his son, Sam, took home the second-place trophy for the 1966 Hendrickson.

Third place went to a 1966 Hendrickson owned by Dan Pegram and family of Lincoln. It is one of five Hendricksons that Pegram has collected.

 

 

John Barrick of Lincoln. placed in the top 15 for votes received. His daughter, Erin, was on hand to share in the excitement and display the trophy for friends and family.

A Brandt tanker partnered with the bright red Kenworth from Boesdorfer Trucking won the most "votes" (donations) at Convoy for Kids. The truck was driven by Tom Doolin of Ashland.
