[June 21, 2011] (AP) A fierce storm in the middle of the country will continue to be the focus of very bad weather Tuesday.

Hardware This storm brought strong thunderstorms, damaging wind and hail, along with reports of tornadoes Monday. On Tuesday, it will begin the day along the border of Nebraska and Iowa before moving northeastward toward southern Minnesota and Wisconsin. It will carry a tremendous amount of moisture with it, providing another round of strong thunderstorms for a good portion of the eastern half of the country. These thunderstorms will form along its cold front from eastern Texas through the Mississippi Valley, while very strong thunderstorms accompanied by heavy rain will form to the north of the storm in the upper Midwest. There is a slight risk that some of these thunderstorms will become severe from Arkansas through the Ohio Valley. Residents should monitor the progress of the storm and be prepared to take any precaution necessary to protect their lives and property.

Meanwhile, a strong high pressure system over the West will allow a major heat wave to continue. Temperatures in the triple digits will be common in the Southwest, while the coastal areas of California will warm into the 70s and 80s.

The Northeast will rise into the 70s and 80s, while the Southeast will see temperatures in the 90s and 100s. The southern Plains will scorch again with temperatures in the 90s and 100s, while the Southwest will see similar temperatures.

Temperatures in the Lower 48 states Monday ranged from a morning low of 28 degrees at Stanley, Idaho, to a high of 104 degrees at Vernon, Texas.
